The Rajasthan Government has sanctioned the establishment of 23 new marketing cooperative societies to provide the farmers easy access to marketing services at the mandi level. A total of 40 such societies are proposed to be established in the State this year.
According to State Cooperative Minister Parsadilal Meena here on Thursday, the Government has launc-hed a survey to find out the scope for creation of village cooperative societi-es at the panchayat level, even as 5,200 societies are functioning in the villages. “The Government plans to evolve cooperative societies as mini-banks to provide banking services under a single roof to the villagers,” said Mr. Meena. Over 3,000 village cooperative societies had already been converted into mini-banks, he added.
