He was upset over withdrawal from school on completing senior secondary

NEW DELHI: In a bizarre case, a 50-year-old man was bludgeoned to death allegedly by his son in Geeta Colony here on Monday.

The accused, 20-year-old Ditin, wanted to pursue studies and was reportedly upset with his father Bhushan Lal for withdrawing him from school. The murder took place late on Monday night allegedly following an altercation between Bhushan Lal and Ditin when the latter expressed his desire to pursue studies. Bhushan Lal refused to give in to his demand and Ditin allegedly hit his father on the head several times with a hammer lying nearby. Bhushan Lal was rushed to hospital where he was declared dead.

The family told the hospital authorities that Bhushan Lal had hit himself with the hammer and the hospital reported the matter to the police. However, Ditin broke down during interrogation and purportedly confessed to having committed the murder. The accused told the police that his father ran an electrical items manufacturing unit and wanted him to look after his business. He pulled Ditin out of school on his completing senior secondary. Bhushan Lal also allegedly practised black magic and was feared by the family.

The police have registered a case of murder and arrested Ditin.
