PALAKKAD: A gang of six persons in Kerala Police uniform robbed a youth of 3 kg of gold ornaments, which he was carrying from Chennai for a jewellery shop in Perinthalmanna, at the Palakkad railway station on Tuesday.

The youth who reached the railway station in the early hours of Tuesday was “taken into custody by the gang in police uniform” for questioning. He was forcibly taken in a vehicle to Yakkara in the town and robbed of the gold ornaments.

The youth is identified as Rafeeq, son of Hamsa of Vattaparambu House, Perinthalmanna, Malappuram district.

Top police officers are investigation the case.
