KOZHIKODE: The Youth Congress has alleged moves by the State government to raise the pension age to 60, and thereby deny opportunities to more than 7,5000 new job aspirants in the State.

Youth Congress State president T. Siddique alleged that the first step taken in this direction was to raise the pension age by declaring March 31 as the uniform date for retirement. The step had denied jobs to more than 25,000 persons, besides promotion opportunities to scores of employees.

Terming the move anti-youth, he said it would jeopardise the fortunes of more than 50 lakh unemployed youth in the State.

Mr. Siddique said the budget introduced by Finance Minister T.M. Thomas Isaac was anti-people.

The budget had failed to address the needs of those who had lost jobs and were returning to Kerala from the Gulf, he alleged.
