KOCHI: The ninth edition of The Hindu Young World Quiz competition is to be held at the A.J. Hall, Kaloor-Kadavanthara Road, near the private bus stand, Kaloor, here on November 1.
In addition to Kochi, the quiz will be held in Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode, Mangalore, Chennai, Puducherry, Madurai, Coimbatore, Trichy, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Vishakhapatnam.
The all-India finals will be held in Visakhapatnam on November 13.
The annual event is a battleground for quiz teams representing various schools.
The contest—presented by Extramarks.com and managed by Quizwallahs—will begin at 11 a.m. with a preliminary round at the end of which six teams will be selected for the regional finals which will be held the same day.
Any two students—from classes six to nine—can form a team; a school can send a maximum of three teams. The teams should report at the venue not later than 10.15 a.m. and should carry with them the entry cards in the original.
The regional finals will begin at 12.30 p.m. and the prize distribution will be done at 1 .30 p.m. on November 1. The national sponsors of the quiz are the State Bank of Travancore, Penguin, Encyclopaedia Britannica, Reynolds, Firefox, Lotte Caramilk and Cycle Agarbathis. The associate sponsors are DC Books, Mango, Cheetos and Kissan Amaze.
The beverage sponsor is Real.
The regional sponsor of the event is CDC Cashews and Samsung. The Young World quiz is part of The Hindu– Newspaper in Education initiative.
