Students from 17 educational sub-districts compete for honours
TIRUR: Young talents representing 17 sub-districts fought it out on the second day of the Malappuram revenue district youth festival being held at Government Vocational Higher Secondary School, Kapakanchery, near here, on Tuesday.
No clear picture emerged during the day as the programmes continued late into night.
Most events of the Sanskrit and Arabic festivals were completed on Tuesday.
Though their results were available, the organisers said that it was too early to judge which sub-district led.
Competitions in popular events such as classical dance forms, Oppana, Mappila song, drama and `mimicry' will take place on Wednesday and Thursday.
The festival is being held at 11 venues. Nearly 5,000 students are taking part.
M. Mohammed Asif of KUPS, Thachinganadam, bagged the first prize in pencil drawing in the UP section. In watercolour painting, Sonek P of FMHSS, Tirur, won the first prize.
K.T Deepak of GHSS, Pookottumpadam, won the first prize in elocution as part of the Sanskrit festival. In Koodiyattom, the MVHSS, Ariyallur, team led by Nitya S won the first prize.
In drama, Sajitlal E and friends from GUPS, Ariyallur, won the first prize.
Mohammed Ashraf V.K of ICHS, Shantivayal, won the first prize in caption writing competition held as part of the Arabic festival.
Ahamed Kasim K of GHSS, Tirurangandi, won the first prize in cursive script competition, and Rejina K of ISSHSS, Eazhuvathiruthi, topped in word game.
In mono-act, Vaheeda V.K of ICHS, Shanthapuram, won the first prize. Nafila Shareefa from ISSHSS, Eazhuvathiruthi, topped in elocution.
In group song competition in UP category, Shahanavas C.K and party from MICEMS, Athanikkal, and Hanana A.K and friends from JMHSS, Parannekkad, Tirur, shared the first prize.
