An exhibition of paintings by Salvya S. Raj commenced at the Lalitakala art gallery at Thiruvangad here on Monday.

Sreemoolanagaram Mohan, secretary, Kerala Lalithakala Akademi, inaugurated the exhibition.

As many as 43 works by Salvya will be displayed at the exhibition which includes 39 works in watercolour, two in acrylic, and two colour pencil works. The teen prefers watercolour for her landscape works.

For the young artist, a Class 12 student of St. Joseph Higher Secondary School here, the exhibition will set off a project she has been nurturing for long.

The Salvyas Art Trust Foundation for the promotion of talented artists was inaugurated by Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, MLA, on Monday. Artist P.S. Karunakaran inaugurated the website on the occasion.

Salvya, who has held solo exhibitions at places including Salarjung Museum, Hyderabad, and Travancore Art Gallery, New Delhi, has won nearly 58 gold medals as well as cash awards and trophies in district, State, and national contests.

The trust will also extend financial support to artists in need, says Salvya. The amount collected by selling her works will be utilised for the trust’s activities.

She is the daughter of Sasidharan and Samja K.K. The exhibition will conclude on October 19.

A Class 12 student is exhibiting 43 of her works at the Lalitakala art gallery at Thiruvangad.
