The sleight of his hands was remarkable. The show drew a resounding applause even as the audience wondered how the predictions in the sealed box were just simply accurate.

It was magician Gopinath Muthukad who walked away with everyone’s appreciation after a successful performance of ‘Postal Mystery’, a magic show which featured a novel theme, ‘Letter to the Chief Minister’.

As the magician took out the torn page of a book chosen by A.P. Abdullakkutty, MLA, from the sealed box which was dangling from a pole stuck amidst the crowd, the audience as well as the MLA were wonderstruck. ‘But how did it happen,’ the MLA was curious as every trick played by the magician fell into place.

Days gone by

Reminiscing about the bygone days of letters, Mr. Muthukad played his show with precision advising youngsters to write at least one letter a week to feel the sensation of written letters in today’s world of emails and SMS. District Collector Rathan Kelkar was the chief guest on the occasion.

District panchayat president K.A. Sarala, Excise deputy Commissioner P. Jayarajan and former excise deputy commissioner K. Karunakaran were also present.

Coinciding with the World Postal day on Wednesday, the show was jointly organised by the Kannur Press Club and Magic Academy, Thiruvananthapuram at T.K. Balan memorial hall in the NGO union building here.
