The State government has sanctioned Rs.51.25 lakh for acquisition of a house owned by writer Sukumar Azhikode at Eravimangalam and turn it into a memorial, according to Culture Minister K. C. Joseph. Quoting the Minister, a press release issued by the Kerala Sahitya Akademi said the amount has been transferred to the district administration. The government will acquire 20.43 cents, a 320.67 sq m building and other assets in it, including books. The Academy will purchase 25 book racks from the Small Industries Development Corporation (Sidco). Efforts were on to classify the books, said Akademi secretary R. Gopalakrishnan.
