Work on a project to develop the civil station premises in Kakkanad will get under way on April 6.

Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution K.V. Thomas, who had allocated Rs. 60 lakh from the MP Local Area Development Scheme, will inaugurate the work at 4 p.m. Revenue Minister Adoor Prakash will preside over the function. In the first phase of the project, parking space, walkway and open stage will be developed.

The parade ground to be set up here will have the capacity to accommodate at least 25,000 persons. A walkway around the ground at a width of 10 metres will be another highlight.
