Steps to expedite various projects in Kasaragod
Efforts are on to expedite various development projects in the district, Agriculture Minister K.P. Mohanan, who is in charge of the district development, has said.
Work on the proposed regulator-cum-bridge project at Bavikkara, which was expected to tackle the acute drinking water shortage in Kasaragod municipality and four adjoining panchayats, would commence shortly, Mr. Mohanan said at a meeting of people’s representatives and officials at the Collectorate here on Thursday.
Separate blocks for sales tax offices will be built in the district. Additional vehicle checking counter will be set up at the Manjeswaram check-post. A plot of 9.73 acre has been allotted to expand the check-post, he said.
The meeting also decided to find suitable land for constructing a new treasury office at Chattamchal. It also proposed a fisheries station at Uduma. The Minister called for a special meeting to address complaints regarding land acquisition for national highway development.
The meting was attended, among others, by P. Karunakaran, MP., local MLAs N.A. Nellikunnu, P.B. Abdul Razak, K. Kunhiradioman (Uduma), K. Kunhirasman (Thrikaripur), district panchayat president P.P. Shyamala Devi, and District Collector P.S. Mohammed Sagir.
