The State Women's Commission has condemned the acid attack on a woman near Aranmula in Pathanamthitta district on Saturday. The accused is believed to have thrown acid at her after she allegedly rejected his marriage proposal. The commission has asked the police to take stern action against the accused. Expressing shock over the incident, chairperson D. Sreedevi said the commission would explore the possibility of paying compensation to the victim after recovering it from the culprit. She said the commission would soon visit the victim, who was admitted to the Kottayam Medical College along with her mother who also suffered minor burns when she tried to save her.
