NEDUMBASSERY: The emigration officials at the Cochin International Airport here detained a Tibetan woman, reportedly a refugee, and the agent who abetted her attempted illegal passage on Friday on a tip-off.
Dolma, who was staying in Bylakuppe in Karnataka, known for Tibetan settlements, was detained on charge of possessing forged passport when she arrived here to board an Oman Air flight en route to Kuwait.
Asghar Paasha, a Kudak-based agent had helped her to secure the passport. Reportedly, he arranged his wife's passport by replacing the cover page. According to emigration sources, he was paid about Rs. 2-3 lakhs for arranging the Kuwaiti visa. The agent was at the airport feigning to "see off his wife" leading to his detention.
