The railways must renovate the Harbour Terminus railway station and the Ernakulam old railway station located behind the High Court of Kerala where many acres of railway land is lying idle, the Metro Kochi Vikasana Samity has demanded.

The agency must also construct a railway halt station at Vytilla-Ponnurunni in the vicinity of the Vytilla Mobility Hub and near the Kochi International Airport, the samity general secretary A.A. Abdul Rasheed Haji demanded in a memorandum submitted recently to the Union Railway Minister Pavan Kumar Bansal.

The other demands are new mainline electrical multiple unit (MEMU) train services from Ernakulam to Thrissur and Palakkad, and more services to Kottayam and Alappuzha. The Railway must also ensure the safety of passengers, Mr Haji demanded.
