The State chapter of the WWF-India is organising Wild Wisdom Quiz 2011 for schoolchildren to cultivate interest in the young minds about wildlife conservation. The quiz is organised in connection with the Wildlife Week observance that begins on October 2.
The quiz is exclusively for the students of classes 6, 7, and 8. It will be held across the State at three regional levels on September 28 at Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur and Kozhikode.
The first and second prize winners of each region will compete at the State-level contest to be held at Thiruvananthapuram in the first week of October and win awards, certificates and a unique opportunity to undertake a Nature Watch.
Since 2011 being observed as International Year of Forests, the theme of the regional-level quiz will be ‘Forests and Wildlife.'
The theme of the State-level quiz will be ‘Tiger, the national animal and one of the priority conservation species of WWF-India,' according to the Director of the local chapter of the WWF-India, Ranjan Mathew Varghese.
Interested schools can register their team for the regional-level competitions. Each school can send one team comprising two students.
The last date for registration is September 26.
The southern regional competition will be held at the Press Club Hall, Thiruvananthapuram.
