Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) leader P.K.K. Bava has asked Leader of the Opposition and Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader V.S. Achuthanandan to explain his stand on the demand for a CBI investigation into what has come to be known as the ‘first Marad case’ and why he has demanded a probe by the Central agency only in the ‘second Marad case.’
Mr. Bava, IUML State general secretary (in-charge), wondered why Mr. Achuthanandan had not demanded a CBI probe in the ‘first Marad case.’ He said Mr. Achuthanandan and the Left Democratic Front government he headed were opposed to a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) when they were in power. “Mr. Achuthanandan’s demand for a CBI inquiry only in the second Marad case strengthens suspicions that there is an unholy alliance between the Sangh Parivar and the CPI(M),” he said. The Muslim League leader alleged that the CPI(M) was responsible for vitiating the peaceful atmosphere in Marad before the first violent incident.
