Minister for Panchayats and Social Welfare M.K. Muneer, on Friday, inaugurated a ‘wave rider buoy’ facility jointly introduced by the Centre for Earth Science Studies (CESS) and the Indian National Centre for Ocean Services (INCOIS) off the Kozhikode coast with a mission to step up the quick-warning mechanism.

The facility, introduced as part of the Ocean State Forecast System for North Kerala, will help fishermen and the coastal people to get immediate alerts on various hazards, including high wave activity, cyclones, tsunami, and storm surges.

It will also improve the weather forecasting facility in the coastal regions of North Kerala.
