Thiruvananthapuram: The city police have arrested two persons under the provisions of the Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act.

A.L. Najmulhassan, Circle Inspector (CI), Fort, identified the suspects as Pradeep, alias Eldo, 24, of Manacaud and his associate, Prasanth, alias Kannan, of Melamcode.

The police said the accused were wanted in several cases, including attempted murder and extortion. They had attacked a hotel near Karimadam colony after the manager refused to heed to their extortion bids. They have been sent to the Central Prison.

Vehicle seized

The rural police found two swords in a vehicle they chased and intercepted at Kazhakuttam on Wednesday morning. B. Anil Kumar, CI, Kazhakuttam, said the car belonged to ‘Thekkemoodu' Lalu, a wanted man. The occupants of the vehicle escaped. The police waved down the vehicle near the Central Reserve Police Force camp. The driver gave the police the slip and took a road leading to a clay excavation quarry. The occupants abandoned the vehicle at the quarry and escaped. The CI said efforts were on to arrest the suspects.

Rape of minor: two held

The rural police have arrested two persons on the charge of raping a minor girl. They identified the main suspect as Amir, 68, of Varkala. The other accused is a 16-year-old boy related to Amir. The police said the 11-year-old girl, who hails from a poor family, was living in Amir's household as a dependent. The victim told the police that Amir sexually exploited her by offering money and clothes as inducements. He allegedly threatened to throw her out of his home when she resisted his advances.
