Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan has said that he will approach the Supreme Court for an investigation into alleged removal of precious articles from the Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple here.

Offering clarifications on his recent remark that the head of the royal family of erstwhile Travancore had taken away gold and other precious articles from the temple, Mr. Achuthanandan told reporters here on Tuesday that he was only repeating the contents of complaints he had received from former employees of the temple.

Mr. Achuthanandan said the circumstances that led to the dismissal of temple employees who had tried to protect the temple properties needed to be inquired into. What he could do was to approach the Supreme Court and place the information he had received before it so that the matter could be inquired into. “I was only speaking on the basis of the complaints I had received and not making any comment on my own,” the Opposition leader said.
