Samastha Kerala Jamiyat Ulema general secretary Kanthapuram A.P. Aboobacker Musaliyar has said that his Sunni faction will extend support for the victory of candidates who strive to work for all-round development and protecting the unity and integrity of the nation.

People or groups fighting one another in the name of political and religious affiliations tend to harm the nation's unity and integrity and should desist from such acts, Aboobacker Musliyar said at the Samastha Navodhana Sangamam hosted at the District Sunni Centre here on Saturday.

Terming the electoral battles a temporary phenomenon, he said those who fought against one another just to ensure the victory of their respective candidates would only pave the way for creating disunity and disintegration of the country. Everyone had the right to chose affiliation to a particular political formation.

But it should not lead to disunity and hostility among sections of people.

Clarifying that Samastha's work was based on religious tenets and it could not take a political decision, he said the support to any individual or political factions would depend on their attitude towards the institutions run by his establishments.

Samastha did not believe that it needed to support any particular political formation, as it worked purely based on religious tenets and values.

Samastha central ‘Mushavara' member M. Alikunhi Musliyar Shriya inaugurated the function.

District president Sayeed Mohammed Umer-ul Farooq Al Bukhari presided.
