Dharna seeks resignation of Forest Minister
Says Minister has no moral right to continue in office
Seeks CBI probe into Ponmudi land deal
PATHANAMTHITTA: Kerala Congress(M) State general secretary Joseph M. Puthusserry, MLA, has alleged that the Government decision for a Vigilance inquiry into the Ponmudi Merchiston Estate deal was aimed at protecting the real culprits.
The KC(M) leader was inaugurating a dharna organised by the United Democratic Front before the taluk office at Mallappally on Thursday demanding resignation of Forest Minister Benoy Viswom in connection with the land deal.
Demanding the ouster of Mr. Viswom, the KC(M) MLA said that the Minister had no moral right to continue in office.
He alleged that there was every reason to suspect a hidden agenda aimed at protecting certain “powerful VIP culprits” involved in the land scam by conducting a Vigilance probe.
The KC(M) leader demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry or judicial probe in the Ponmudi land deal.
UDF mandalam committee president Lalu Thomas presided over the meeting.
K.E. Abdul Rahman, Indian Union Muslim League district president, George Mammen Kondoor, Saji Chacko, DCC general secretaries, and Mathew Chamathil, Karshaka Congress(M) State secretary, also spoke.
