Vice Admiral Satish Sony, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command, visited the Beypore port on Thursday as part of auditing the security measures in the port and the existing infrastructural facilities.

He held discussions with Port Officer Abraham V. Kuriakose and Commanding Officer of the Beypore Coast Guard Station G.K.P. Sreekumar.

Mr. Kuriakose said the visit was part of a State-wide check on minor ports and their services.

“Since a number of mercantile vessels and naval ships are coming to the Beypore port, the Navy is more conscious of the security and surveillance measures taken here,” he said.

Strategies

Mr. Kuriakose said the Vice Admiral was fully satisfied with the securities measures at the Beypore port and the developmental initiatives planned. “We have also convinced him about the new plans and strategies to tighten the existing security measures further,” he added.

The Vice Admiral had earlier visited the Azhikkal port in Kannur. He would visit other minor ports in the State.
