State president of the Indian Veterinary Association Dr. K.R. Arunkumar, who is also the chairman of the joint action council of the organisations of veterinarians in State government service, launched a 24-hour fast in front of the Secretariat on Wednesday as part of an agitation launched in January against the indifference shown towards the veterinarians by the Ninth Pay commission.

The fast was inaugurated by the former State president of the Indian Veterinary Association Dr. M.M. Chacko.
