Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan has said that Chief Minister Oommen Chandy should not be singled out for criticism for giving a fifth Ministerial berth to the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML).

He told presspersons near here on Monday that Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president Ramesh Chennithala too had a role in meeting the Muslim League's demand. “Oommen Chandy alone cannot give the fifth ministerial post without the knowledge of the KPCC leadership. However, now he is being singled out and attacked, which is not the proper way,” he said.

Giving the fifth berth was not a mistake politically. But the change of portfolio of Ministers was uncalled for, he said. The United Democratic Front was not able to give due consideration to Ezhavas and other backward classes.
