KOCHI: Six of the 20 yachts participating in the Vasco Da Gama yacht rally from Turkey to India through the Red Sea are expected to arrive at the Bolghatty Palace Hotel here on Saturday.

This coincides with the fifth edition of the India International Boat Show, which began in Kochi on Friday.

The rally aims to make an international chain of friendship, understanding, dialogue and cooperation amongst seafarers from different countries and the places they visit. Lodewiyk Brust, a former businessman from Holland, is leading the rally. The seafarers' arrival in Kochi is delayed due to inclement weather. Mr. Brust was initiated into sailing 40 years ago. He said he saw the India International Boat Show (IIBS) evolving over the years, to become a truly professional event. This is his third visit to India.
