The University of Calicut will host a State-level mega quiz for college students from January 24 to 27. The programme, to be held on the university campus, intended to improve the general knowledge of students and prepare them for a suitable career in life.

Vice Chancellor M. Abdul Salam told mediapersons here on Monday that the first round, for various universities in the State, would be completed before January 20. The inter-university quiz would be made an annual event from next year, he said.

Adding colour to the maiden fair, the participation of housewives, senior citizens, and students from various primary and higher secondary schools too would be ensured by hosting separate contests for them.

The questions would be based on science, international developments, literature, history, social science, astronomy, and information technology.

According to Dr. Salam, the university would also seek the affiliation of the International Quizzing Association (IQA) headquartered in London.

“Asian Director of the IQA would be one of the 15-member panel of quizmasters for the event,” he said.

The university had invited logos from students.

The one adjudged best would get a certificate and cash prize.

The entries may be mailed to deanofficeonline@

gmail.com.

Similarly, the design of the official portal planned to publicise the event may be submitted to the university.
