Gujarat handicrafts and handloom exhibition, now on at the Women's Association Hall on Diwans Road in the city is drawing crowds attracted to the variety of exhibits and innate craftsmanship of the artisans.

The exhibition-cum-sale, sponsored by the Gujarat government, showcases handicrafts and handloom items of Gujarat and other North Indian states. It sports an array of dresses, gift items, Minakari jewels, Kolhapuri chappals and sarees and garments of various hues and blends.

Palm leaf paintings of ‘dasavatharam', depiction of gods and goddesses are major attractions. Some of the paintings are done using natural dyes and colours. Handbags of various sizes and shapes are fast selling items says the organisers. Bengal cotton sarees and handwoven items, artefacts made of medicinal wood, terra cotta products are much in demand. There is 20 per cent discount for handlooms and 10 per cent rebate for handicrafts. The show is on till May 15.
