Land acquisition to be completed in a month
Nod for price fixed by panel for land in Eloor village
Value of land ranges between Rs.30,000 and Rs.1.75 lakh
KOCHI: Decks have been cleared for the four-lane highway connectivity for the proposed Vallarpadam International Container Transhipment Terminal.
This was made possible after a State-level Empowered Committee meeting in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday approved the price recommended by the District Level Purchase Committee (DLPC) for the land to be acquired in Eloor village for road connectivity.
The value of land fixed ranged between Rs.30,000 and Rs.1.75 lakh.
“With this, the roadblocks in highway alignment in all the seven villages through which it passes through have been removed. The entire acquisition process is now likely to be completed by the end of this month,” Ernakulam Collector A.P.M. Mohammed Hanish said.
Significantly, Chief Secretary P.J. Thomas, who presided over the meeting, directed the Collector to go ahead with the documentation of the land from Friday without waiting for the minutes of the meeting to be prepared.
The Collector said that the majority of landowners in Eloor had already expressed their willingness to cooperate with the acquisition process by accepting the price recommended by the DLPC.
“This has now been legalised with the stamp of approval of the Empowered Committee,” the Collector said.
Revenue Principal Secretary Nivedita P. Haran, Transportation Secretary Ajay Chowdhury, Finance Expenditure Secretary Ashwini Kumar Rai and Law Secretary P.S. Gopinathan also attended the meeting.
