THRISSUR: Uthralikkavu Pooram, one of the important festivals of central Kerala, was celebrated on Tuesday.

Pooram celebrations began with `ezhunnellippu' (ceremonial procession) by the Enkakkadu Desam. The elephant Thiruvambadi Sivasundar carried the `thidambu' (idol) of the deity. Percussion ensembles were led by Annamanada Parameswara Marar and Pulapatta Thankamani.

Later, `ezhunellippu' by the Kumaranellur Desam was held. The elephant Sreenivasan carried the `thidambu.' This was accompanied by Panchavadyam led by Chottanikkara Vijayan.

The elephant Thechikkottukavu Ramachandran carried the `thidambu' for the `ezhunellippu' by the Vadakkancheri Desam. This was accompanied by Panchavadyam led by Parakkadu Thankappan and Cherpulassery Sivan.

The `Pakal Vedikkettu' (display of fireworks) was held in the evening.
