Bar Council of Kerala Chairman Sreedharan Nair on Saturday urged the courts to make full use of modern technology to speed up delivery of judgments.

He was addressing a seminar on ‘Judiciary, Democracy and the Public Interest' here. Participating in the session, D. B. Binu, lawyer and RTI activist, said that the judiciary had become the most undemocratic domain in public life. Joy Kaitharam, RTI activist, said efforts at intervention in the larger public interest using the RTI Act were proving to be increasingly difficult with courts not supporting the cause. Participating in the discussions, veteran journalist P. Rajan said that there must be a time-frame for pronouncement of verdicts by courts once the hearing in cases was over.
