The University of Calicut is gearing up to conduct a mega

food and agri-horticulture festival in February. The mela will be held from February 7 to 11, at the university grounds at Kohinoor on the National Highway 17.

Vice-Chancellor M. Abdul Salam said that the mela would introduce the latest technology in agriculture and horticulture to the people.

Saplings of a wide variety of species would be brought for sale.

Participants

Agricultural bodies, nurseries and other related organisations in both government and private sector would participate in the five-day festival.

The 11 catering science colleges under Calicut University and several other private catering organisations would take part in the food festival. There would be a variety of entertainment programmes in the evenings.

Pro Vice-Chancellor M. Ravindranath, festival convener, and head of the Department of Botany M. Sabu, and K.N.A. Khader, MLA, were chosen

patrons of the programme.

The show would open at 9 a.m. and would go on till 9 p.m., said Dr. Sabu.
