KANNUR: The Kannur University authorities have refuted the Kannur University Teachers' Collective's (KUTC) allegations of administrative stalemate in the university, saying that the memorandum submitted by KUTC general secretary M. Dasan to the Governor contained baseless charges.

A press release issued by the university Registrar said the allegation that statutory officers of the university were away from the university administrative office on most working days in violation of the statutory requirement, was baseless.

Dr. Dasan, as Head of the Department of English and Campus Director of the Thalassery Campus, knows that the statutory officers such as Vice-Chancellor, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, Finance Officer and Controller of Examinations were discharging their duties at the university everyday except on occasions when they had to be away as part of their official duties, the release said.

Stating that the statutory officers were not lackadaisical in discharging their duties, the release said there was not a single file awaiting disposal in their offices. All those newly appointed teachers in the university had drawn their salaries, it said in response to the allegation that they had not been paid salaries even after three months of appointment. The release also said that the delay in recruitment was due to litigations before the High Court.

Referring to Dr. Dasan's charge that the Internet facility had not been available on the Thalasserry campus for the past one week, the Registrar said that Dr. Dasan was still in charge of the campus. The charge that examinations were being delayed was baseless as the university's examinations were being conducted as per schedule, the release said.
