An understanding was reached between the recognised trade unions and the management of the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) on Wednesday night on the implementation of the revival package chalked out by the corporation. Minister for Transport Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, who chaired the meeting at the Secretariat, said the package would be implemented by protecting the interests of the employees of the transport utility.

The package aims at overcoming the KSRTC’s pension liability, heavy loan burden, problems with routes, and lack of automation.

A high-level committee chaired by Mr. Radhakrishnan and including representatives of the recognised trade unions will be set up to sort out the problems.

Schedule modification to increase revenue, commencement of parcel and courier service, GPRS-based electronic ticketing system, and advertisement revenue through closed-circuit television were approved.
