The district branch of the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) Employees’ Union has registered support for the nationwide strike declared by trade unions against the “anti-people policies” of the UPA government.

The support for the strike was declared at the 23rd women’s convention of the union. The trade unions’ strike was scheduled for February 20 and 21, the union said in a release. It said the strike was justified owing to several reasons, including price hike, arbitrary sale of public companies’ shares, withdrawal of the PFRDA Bill, and the delay in giving women 33 per cent reservation in the legislature.
