KOCHI: The United Nations Day message from the UN Secretary General will be screened at a seminar being organised in the city as part of the UN Day celebrations on October 24.
The seminar has for its theme `Many Voices, One World' and the UN Day celebrations are being organised by the Indian Society for Training and Development (ISTD), Kochi Chapter at the Albertian Institute of Management.
The seminar will get under way at 9 a. m. with Prof. K.S. Radhakrishnan, Vice-Chancellor of Sree Sankaracharya Sanskrit University, inaugurating it. There will be three presentations on topics relevant to the focus of the seminar: Leela Menon, journalist, will speak on `Giving Voice to Women,' S.R. Nair, management expert, will speak on `Managing Knowledge-Opportunities' and K.K. Jayan, chairman of ISTD Kochi, will speak on `Democratising Communication.' Raju A. Cherian, secretary, and Antony Joseph, treasurer, ISTD Kochi, will also speak.
The UN Day celebrates the coming into being of the United Nations Organisation on October 24, 1945. `Many Voices, One World' is the title of the report of UNESCO's International Commission for the Study of Communication Problems that came out in 1980. The report opened the debate on a new information and communications order.
