KALPETTA: Both the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the United Democratic Front (UDF) launched their election campaign in the district on Saturday.
LDF candidate M. Rahmathulla said that the situation in the district was favourable to LDF since four legislative Assembly constituencies — Thiruvambadi, Mananthavadi, Sulthan Bathery and Kalpetta — in the newly constituted Lok Sabha constituency were LDF bastions.
UDF candidate M.I. Shanavas said that the front was sure of victory in Wayanad. “Only the Congress can provide a democratic and secular environment to the people,” Mr .Shanavas said. The campaign strategy of the UDF would be launched after a high power meeting of its leaders in Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad on Saturday, Mr. Shanavas said.
