KOCHI: The Special Branch of the City Police has arrested two persons wanted in many cases, including throwing bombs. These arrests came as the police intensified the drive on executing pending warrants in the light of the recent bomb blast at the district collectorate.

Nawas of Kalamassery, one of the arrested, was wanted in several cases including throwing country bombs at the Kalamassery glass factory. He had evaded arrest many times.

Abdul Gafoor of Palluruthy, wanted in a case registered at the Kalamassery police station in 1997 and wanted by the Crime Branch since 2004, was the other person arrested on Thursday. He was arrested from near Mattanchery BOT Bridge. He was handed over to the Crime Branch.

Idol theft

The Ernakulam Town Central Police have arrested one person in connection with the burglary committed at Kanjirathinkal Ayyappa Temple at Panathur, Kasargod.

The police team arrested Joby, 25, of Kannur, when he arrived in the city to allegedly sell the idol.

The accused has many cases registered against at Kalamassery and Thripunithura police stations.
