Two persons were injured when a buffalo ran amok on the town traffic police station compound here on Monday evening.

The area near the police station was gripped with panic when the rampaging buffalo entered the compound at around 4 p.m. and started wreaking havoc. The police personnel at the station immediately called the Fire and Rescue Services staff for help. By that time, a group of local residents entered the compound to bring the animal under control.

The buffalo charged at them and two people were injured. The injured have been identified as Pradeepan and Anil Kumar. They have been admitted to hospital.

The police said the animal was still on the station premises. The help of veterinary doctors with the Animal Husbandry Department has been sought to control the buffalo, the police said.
