Sale of poisoned toddy led to five deaths at Peruvembu in 2003.

PALAKKAD: The Palakkad Additional Sessions Judge (fast-track) K.K. Chandradas on Tuesday awarded rigorous life imprisonment and a fine of Rs.1 lakh each to the first and second accused in a case related to the sale of poisoned toddy which led to the death of five persons at Peruvembu in February 2003.

Shelvarajan, a toddy tapper from Kariyarpuram, Nadar Theruvu, Pudur and Raman Kutty of Arathurkavu House, Kinassery, a toddy shop worker were the first and second accused respectively in the case.

The case was registered by the Pudunagaram police and advocate K. Aravidakshan appeared for the prosecution.
