Two colleges vie for honours in arts festival

KOZHIKODE: Two colleges in the city are vying for the championship in the Calicut University Inter-Zone Arts Festival. The arts festival will conclude at Medical College here on Friday. Farook College was in the lead with 99 points, when the results of 57 events were announced. St. Joseph's College, Devagiri, with a tally of 83 points was in the second place. Government College, Chittoor, scored 46 points to secure the third position.

The results are as follows in the order of first, second and third respectively:

Folk dance (Men): Ginsvi Gopalan (NSS, Nenmara), P.K. Shabin (St. Joseph's, Devagiri), Nikhil Raveendran (St. Joseph's, Devagiri).

Light music (Men): R. Jayachandran (Government College, Chittoor), D. Arun Gopan (VPSP Ayurveda, Kottakkal) and K. Arunkumar (CKGM, Perambra) and M. Sudheesh Kumar (School of Drama).

Light music (Women): Vineetha Menon (St. Mary's, Thrissur), P.T. Nisha (NSS, Ottappalam) and P. Deepthi Das (Arts and Science College, Kozhikode), Sithara Krishnakumar (Farook College).

Percussion Eastern (Mridangam): Neethul Aravind (CMG, Palakkad), Sreerag P. Sajivkumar (Vidya Academy), V.U. Sajin (Sreekrishna College) and Rajiv P. Gopal (CMG, Palakkad).

Percussion Eastern (Tabla, Pakkavadyam): C. Vineeth (Government College, Madappally), Sidhartha Shankar (St. Joseph's, Devagiri), C. Sandeepan (IES Engineering) and K.R. Vinosh (Teachers' Education, Valappad).

Wind Western: K. Raghunathan (CMG, Palakkad), M.V. Suresh Babu (Government, Chittoor), C. Akbar (Farook College) and Frijo Francis (St. Thomas, Thrissur).

Kolkali: P. Ali and party (PSMO, Thiroorangadi), C.P. Jamaludeen (MESKVM, Valanchery), T.P. Shafi and party (St. Joseph's, Devagiri).

Daffu muttu: V. Subair and party (Farook), Eshan Ummer Bin Adam and party (St. Joseph's, Devagiri), Muhammed Ali and party (Sreekrishna College) and Sayed Abdulla Ameen and party (Ilahiya). The programme schedule for Friday :

Stage I: Mono-act (10 a.m.), Mimicry (11 a.m.), Fancy Dress (12 noon), Group Song, Western (1 p.m.), Valedictory Function (3.30 p.m.). Stage II: Triple Drum (10 a.m.), Jazz (11 a.m.), Kathaprasangam (12 noon), Mime (2 p.m.).
