Two children, aged 10, drowned in a quarry in Paramukku near Kadavila near here on Friday evening.
The deceased are Muhammad Shiyas, and M.S. Manish, son of R. Madhu, both from Valiakunnu. The children, students of Government High School, Avancherry, had gone to take bath in the granite quarry.
According to the police, some local people had first seen the uniforms and school bags left on the quarry and suspected that the children must have drowned in the quarry. They informed the police and with the help of fire and rescue service, the bodies were recovered and taken to the Chirayinkeezhu hospital.
