Sleuths of the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) on Tuesday arrested a village officer and a class 1V employee of the office for allegedly taking bribe from a construction worker.

A. Salahudeen, village officer of Punnala in Pathanapuram taluk, and Azeez Ummar Khan, part-time sweeper at the office, were arrested while taking a bribe of Rs.1,500 from a construction worker.

VACB Dy.SP Rex Bobby Allwyn said there had been several complaints that Salahudeen had been demanding bribes. But since his modus operandi was not to accept bribe in the office, it was difficult to trap him.
