KOCHI: The term jugalbandhi literally means ‘entwined twins.' But Ustad Rafeeq Khan and Ustad Shafeeq Khan, the sitar exponents from Dharvad, Karnataka, are not entwined, but twins.

The twins, who follow the Gwalior Gharana, are presenting a sitar jugalbandhi here on Sunday.

The twins, who have performed at concerts in several cities in India and abroad, are performing together for the first time in Kerala, though Rafeeq Khan gave a solo recital at Mattancherry. Ustad Rajendra Nakod will accompany them on the tabla. The jugalbandhi is being organised by Musical Meet, a club of Hindustani lovers. It will be held at Abad Hotel, Chullickal, at 7 p.m. on Sunday.
