K.P. Mohanan says food security issue remains to be tackled

The youth should become more involved in agriculture as food security is a major issue now, Agriculture Minister K.P. Mohanan has said.

Delivering the Republic Day message after reviewing the parade at the Police Parade Ground on Saturday, the Minister said it was an occasion to recall the sacrifices made by those who fought for the freedom of the country.

The freedom movement led by Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru reflected the aspirations of the people. The proclamation of India as a Republic marked the establishment of the freedom of the citizens of the country to live anywhere (in the country), he said. Calling on the youth to turn to agriculture, the Minister said youngsters should not use their skills to support subversive and extremist activities in the name of religion or caste.
