A mini-truck fell into a 50-ft ditch from the National Highway on Thursday from the same spot where an empty gas tanker had met with a similar accident, triggering tension among road users.
The accident occurred around 11 p.m. on Wednesday night when the mango- laden truck, bound for Mangalore, veered off the road after its driver lost control while negotiating a sharp curve on the road drenched by pre-monsoon showers, police sources said.
The truck driver escaped with minor injuries and is being treated in a hospital, the police said. The truck fell down over the ill-fated tanker lorry that was proceeding towards Mangalore at 10 a.m. on Tuesday. Eyewitness say the accidents had been occurring as there were not danger sign boards in the area.
