Thrissur: Finance Minister T.M. Thomas Isaac on Saturday announced that the second phase of a social audit covering all branches of the State Treasury Department would begin in December.

He was addressing a meeting of officials of the northern region to review the functioning of treasuries.

“The government will launch the second phase, which may involve 3 lakh people and 3,500 jurors, only after implementing the directives issued in the first. As many as 70,000 people took part in the first phase. Salaries and benefits for all government employees will be distributed through treasuries savings banks. From August, account-holders of treasuries may get the facility to withdraw money through ATMs of the State Bank of Travancore,” he said.
