The Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) will offer the services of its teachers with integrated education for disabled (IED) training for the Pratheeksha project being implemented by the district panchayat.

The project is currently being piloted in 26 grama panchayats in the district. The services of IED teachers will be used for the day-care centres of the Pratheeksha project.

District Panchayat officials said here on Wednesday that the Social Justice Department would provide vehicles for the new project.

A district council will be formed to ensure the children reaching Pratheeksha day-care centres get comprehensive treatment by a team comprising physiotherapists, speech therapists, psychologists, and special educators.

The District Panchayat has kept aside Rs.10 lakh for it.

A sum of Rs. 1 lakh each was distributed to the panchayats which implement the Pratheeksha scheme this year. The District Panchayat president Suhara Mampad presided over the function.
