Thiruvananthapuram: The traffic police have announced diversion of traffic in view of the laying of pipes under the JICA drinking water project on the Panavila-Thampanoor stretch from 10 p.m. on May 7.

The vehicles from Thampanoor to Kattakkada should take the road adjacent to the Thycaud flyover and in front of New Theatre to reach the W&C Hospital, Thycaud, and go via the Mettukada junction, Swathi Thirunal Music College and turn right to reach Model High School and the Guest House junction.

From there, the vehicles should take the road in front of the City Police Commissionerate, Rose House Junction and go via Bakery Junction to reach Vazhuthacaud, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Traffic North, Sanal Kumar said in a release.

The vehicles coming from Kattakkada and Thirumala to Thampanoor should turn left from the Women's College junction, go via Mettukada, W&C Hospital, Thycaud, and proceed via the flyover.

The vehicles from Thampanoor to the NH 47, M.C. Road and Nedumangad should proceed to Overbridge and turn right and move along MG Road.

During the period, pipes will be laid along the Panavila-Model School Junction for the drinking water project and culverts will be constructed on the stretch as part of the City Road Improvement Project.

The decision to take up the work was taken at a meeting held on April 30.
