The work on the Attukal Township project, covering 29 wards in the City Corporation, will begin shortly, Health Minister V.S. Sivakumar has said. Speaking after inaugurating a temporary shelter for Sabarimala pilgrims at the Attukal temple here on Wednesday, he said the Manacaud-Chiramukku-Kalady, Chiramukku-Konchiravila-Ambalathara, and Manacaud-Kalippankulam roads would be taken up for improvement, he said.

The government had sanctioned a sum of Rs. 10 lakh for the shelter. The Minister inaugurated a police aid post and toilet blocks constructed by the temple trust at a cost of Rs.80 lakh. Mayor K. Chandrika, and councillors were present.
