District Collector S. Lalithambika has said that all election-related victory processions in the district should be wound up by 6 p.m. on Friday. The decision was taken in consultation with the City Police Commissioner N. Gopalakrishnan to maintain law and order, she said. Election results of all the 11 constituencies in the district were expected to be out by noon.

Expenses of the victory procession would also have to be covered by the expenditure register of the candidates declared elected. Strict restrictions would be in force at all the counting centres. Only those with passes issued by the Election Commission would be allowed to enter the counting centres.

None would be allowed to use mobile phones in the counting centre. Each candidate could have one representative as agent at each counting table. Those entering the counting halls would be allowed t leave the hall only with the permission of the returning officer.

The Collector said arrangements had been made at the media centre, set up at the Civil Station complex, for mediapersons to monitor the progress of the counting.
